Whenever the words ‘free VPN’ are mentioned, internet users tend to be a little skeptical. This is because many free VPNs are known for lax security measures and for not providing the best service. Some bad actors even hide behind fraudulent free VPN services to commit malicious online acts.

Fortunately, Atlas VPN is neither of the above. Atlas VPN is a legitimate VPN service and is a member of the Nord Security group. Nord Security is the company behind NordVPN, NordLocker, and the many other cybersecurity solutions associated with the name ‘Nord.’

To check whether or not user data is really secure with the provider, we checked out the Privacy Policy on Atlas VPN’s website. Atlas VPN’s Privacy Policy is clear and states the following:

“We are no-logs VPN: we do not collect your real IP address, and we do not store any information that identifies what you browse, view, or do online via that VPN connection. The only information collected is basic analytics, to ensure great service to all our users. This also means that we do not have any data to share with law enforcement and government agencies who make requests for information about what you were doing through a VPN connection.”

It seems that, in terms of user privacy, Atlas VPN respects its customers’ data. On top of this, the VPN service has been independently audited, which is another reassuring sign for users that their data is secure.

Of course, as touched upon in the Privacy Policy, Atlas VPN carries out minimal data logging for analytic and account management purposes. While this is normal, if you are uncomfortable with the VPN service storing your data, you can reach out to Atlas VPN’s customer support and ask the team to delete stored information. What’s more, upon account deletion, your data will be automatically removed from the VPN’s server network.

Does Atlas VPN Have a Kill Switch?

Atlas VPN does indeed have a kill switch! An internet kill switch is an extremely important tool, and we are hesitant to recommend a VPN service that doesn’t offer one. While testing Atlas VPN, the kill switch actually sprang into action, and we were immediately disconnected from the internet due to our server connection dropping.

No VPN software is perfect, and server disconnections can occur for a number of reasons, including network connectivity issues and large server loads. This is why a kill switch that actually works is incredibly important.

Does Atlas VPN Unblock Netflix?

VPNs are popular solutions for unblocking streaming services since they enable users to change their IP addresses and trick streaming sites into believing they are based elsewhere. Netflix is the most popular streaming site that users want to unblock.

If you’re looking for a good streaming VPN, Atlas VPN is an excellent choice; you’ll be able able to unblock plenty of foreign Netflix libraries as well as enjoy content on Amazon Prime Video, iPlayer, and many more streaming sites.

Can You Torrent with Atlas VPN?

If you torrent, you should already be using a VPN. There are many risks that come with torrenting on P2P networking platforms, including revealing your real IP address, exposing your activity to third parties like your ISP, and enduring bandwidth throttling due to the nature of your internet activity.

Fortunately, Atlas VPN states on its website that it supports torrenting and can be used concurrently with platforms such as BitTorrent. With advanced encryption and tunneling protocols, as well as fast speeds on the premium version, Atlas VPN is a great option for users who might be sharing copyrighted or large media files and need extra privacy and fast speeds for quick downloads.

What Devices Does Atlas VPN Support?

You can use the Atlas VPN app on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. Whether you are an Android or iOS user, the Android app and iOS app are extremely easy to use and allow users to quickly connect to a server either via the connect button or by searching through the server list.

The Windows and Mac clients are also user-friendly and lightweight to ensure that they don’t take up a lot of storage space and slow down the system performance.

Unfortunately, Atlas VPN does not yet support Linux or other operating systems at the time of writing. Given that it comes with no device connection limits, we assume that support for other systems will be rolled out shortly.

Does Atlas VPN Work on Firestick?

Atlas VPN supports Android-based devices. Therefore, its Android app should work on Firestick. However, it seems that the VPN service has not yet made its apps available for download from the Firestick catalog.

If you wish to use the VPN on your Firestick, you may need to use the streaming device on your Windows or Mac computer or manually configure the VPN to your router. In doing so, you’ll not only be able to use the VPN on your Firestick but protect all internet-based devices connected to your home internet network. However, Atlas VPN doesn’t yet support routers or configurations with the OpenVPN protocol.

Is Atlas VPN Fast?

A downside of many great VPN services is that they can slow down your internet connection. This is due to the fact that you are sending your web traffic via an encrypted tunnel to a distant server, which is then being transmitted back to you via the same encrypted server. This means that sometimes, VPN speeds are not so fast.

Fortunately, Atlas VPN provides lightning-fast speeds and stable connections, which bodes well for premium users who want to watch live streams or download large files. We ran a speed test when connected to a US server and enjoyed an average download speed of 35Mbps, which is extremely fast.

Moreover, Atlas VPN uses high-speed protocols. Atlas VPN only offers WireGuard and IKEv2/IPSec; however, both of these are great options for fast speeds.

So, with Atlas VPN’s speeds and unlimited bandwidth, users can enjoy a reliable and speedy internet connection at all times.

Atlas VPN has an extensive help center, which is divided into several sections, including troubleshooting issues and billing help.
