KeepSolid's VPN Unlimited product is fast, powerful, and comes at a relatively affordable price. However, it is hindered by some management issues and there is room for improvement. It does come with a free trial, meaning that you can test the VPN service risk-free and ensure it offers all of the features and services you require before committing to a paid subscription plan.

The New York-based product is impressive and comes with a range of features rarely found elsewhere. The VPN offers a relatively small server network with just over 400 servers. However, these are located in more than 80 locations.

P2P sharing is supported, although only in 5 locations (Canada, France, Luxembourg, Romania, and the United States). KeepSolid VPN operates on secure protocols including OpenVPN, L2TP/IPsec, IKEv2, PPTP, and even WireGuard on its mobile, macOS, and Windows clients.

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited Security

80%

When it comes to user security, KeepSolid VPN Unlimited provides a range of sophisticated security features and operates on first-rate VPN protocols including OpenVPN, L2TP, IKEv2, PPTP, and even the new open-source WireGuard protocol (on its Android, macOS, and Windows apps). The VPN service even offers its own proprietary KeepSolid Wise protocol which serves to reroute private user traffic through the TCP 443 and UDP 33434 ports for an additional layer of online security.

OpenVPN is the strongest VPN protocol available and is open-source which means it has been heavily scrutinized by developers for vulnerabilities and issues. It operates on AES-256 military standard encryption to ensure your private data is undecipherable. Users can also choose to enable automatic connections whenever they access an unsecured or untrusted Wi-Fi network such as a public hotspot. This ensures you are always protected.

The VPN service also offers a new DNS firewall tool and DNS filtering system to block malicious product sites. It also enables website blocking by content type including gambling, social networking, and adult).

The KeepSolid VPN Unlimited Windows and macOS clients also come with a reliable integrated kill-switch to cut your internet connection if your VPN server connection fails for any reason. This ensures that no unencrypted data or your IP address ever become exposed. Despite that the Windows app does not offer dedicated DNS leak protection, it appears to be completely secure from IP, DNS, DoI, and WebRTC leaks anyway.

When you connect to a VPN, your private internet activity is rerouted through VPN servers. This means that the VPN provider could have access to a significant amount of your private data and have the potential to sell or share it with third parties. It is important to carefully read the privacy policy of any VPN service.

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited offers a privacy policy that offers a general outline of the data that may be stored when you visit the 2021 KeepSolid inc. website or use the KeepSolid VPN Unlimited products. This includes IP addresses, connection timestamps, bandwidth used, session dates, device name, and time zone.

It doesn't appear that KeepSolid VPN Unlimited shares or sells personal user data for profit. However, we would like to see this claim backed up by an external third-party security audit of the company's service and policies. Many other VPN providers have completed such audits to verify their privacy policy claims. For example, TunnelBear releases annual external audits of its product sites, services, and products. We hope that KeepSolid VPN Unlimited will follow suit in the near future.

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited Features

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited offers a range of pricing options that vary in duration and the number of simultaneous connections offered. Protection for five devices will cost $9.99 a month, $59.99 a year, $99.99 every 3 years, or $199.99 for a lifetime user. 10 devices will set you back $14.99 a month, $89.99 a year, $149.99 for three years, or $299.99 for lifetime use.

All of these subscription prices are charged in full when you sign up. There is a 7-day money-back guarantee included, although this is significantly lower than the industry average of 30-days. Users can choose to pay with PayPal, Amazon Pay, credit cards, Bitcoin, or Payment Wall.

When compared to other VPN providers on the market, the KeepSolid VPN Unlimited monthly plan is slightly below the industry average of $10.30. However, there are multiple cheaper options available.

KeepSolid VPN also offers a free version of its VPN, KeepSolid VPN Lite Free. This product is compatible with iOS, Android, and macOS and enables the use of 1 of the provider's VPN servers. The free KeepSolid VPN app operates on IKEv2, Open VPN, and KeepSolid Wise protocols. The app automatically chooses the protocol and doesn't allow users to change it.

The provider doesn't limit bandwidth on the free version, which is impressive when compared to the meager data limits imposed by other VPN providers. However, the KeepSolid VPN free version does not live up to the excellent user-experience offered by ProtonVPN's free option.

Users can also opt to upgrade VPN Lite to Turbo for $24.99 a year or Turbo Stream for $6.99 a month. Although it is helpful to have the option of a range of pricing plans, KeepSolid's options are somewhat confusing.

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited supports five devices simultaneously and 10 if you choose to upgrade. The average in the VPN industry is 5 simultaneous connections and it is helpful that KeepSolid VPN gives users the option to increase the number of devices on a subscription plan. Users can also set up the KeepSolid VPN Unlimited app on a router to offer protection for every device including your gaming console or Apple TV. Pre-configured KeepSolid VPN routers are available for purchase.

How Much Does KeepSolid VPN Unlimited Cost?

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited provides three basic plans. Users can protect up to 5 devices by choosing to pay monthly ($9.99), yearly ($5 a month), or every three years ($2.78 a month). There are a few cheaper VPN services on the market such as Surfshark which offers unlimited simultaneous device connections for just $1.99 a month on its 2-year plan. However, KeepSolid VPN Unlimited is cheaper than most and is relatively good value.

The provider also offers a lifetime usage plan for a single payment of $199.99. This works out at just over $3.30 a month if you used it for 5 years. Despite that the lifetime plan may sound tempting, you would need to use the KeepSolid VPN Unlimited app for at least 5 years before it becomes more affordable than its cheapest competitors. There is also no way to know whether you will continue to use the VPN service for that long, or whether it will still be the best choice for you in a few years’ time. Thus, we would not recommend committing to a subscription plan that is any longer than 3 years.

No matter what subscription plan you choose, you can pay with Bitcoin, PayPal, or credit card.

Is KeepSolid VPN Unlimited Private?

VPN Unlimited protects your online anonymity and privacy with first-rate protocols. The KeepSolid VPN service operates on Open VPN by default. Open VPN is a secure open-source protocol, which means that it has been heavily scrutinized by developers for vulnerabilities and weaknesses. It is the default protocol for both desktop and mobile 2021 KeepSolid inc apps. It uses military-grade AES-256 bit encryption to ensure your private user information is undecipherable.

Also, if you do not want to use Open VPN for any reason, KeepSolid VPN also offers the option to switch to IKEv2. The clients also offer the provider’s proprietary KeepWise protocol. This utilizes the core Open VPN protocol, obfuscates it, and reroutes it through a slightly different connection. Despite that this may reduce connection speeds slightly, it may help overcome VPN blocking technology.

There is also the option to activate the app’s automatic connection option. This means that the VPN will automatically activate if you connect to an unsecured or untrusted Wi-Fi network, to make sure that your connection is always safe and protected.

The Windows and macOS apps also feature a kill-switch to cut your internet connection if your VPN fails for any reason. This ensures that your IP address and unencrypted information never become exposed. And, despite that the Windows client does not offer dedicated DNS leak security, it appears to be completely secure from DNS, IP, DoI, and WebRTC leaks.

Does KeepSolid VPN Unlimited Log User Data?

VPN providers could gain access to a significant amount of user data, so it is important to carefully read the privacy policy offered. KeepSolid VPN provides a privacy policy that offers a basic outline of its logging procedures. This states that some information including IP addresses, destination IP addresses, device name, time zone, connection timestamps, bandwidth used, and session dates may be stored by the provider.

However, it does appear that KeepSolid inc does not misuse or sell private user information to third parties for profit. We would like to see its no-logging policy checked by a transparency report and an external security audit of its policies and systems to authenticate this claim. Many other VPN services have completed third-party security audits of their privacy claims. TunnelBear for example completes annual audits of its software, products, and website, and we would like to see KeepSolid inc. follow suit in the next few years.

Is KeepSolid VPN Unlimited Good for Streaming?

A good VPN product enables access to a host of geo-restricted TV shows and content on streaming services. When you use a VPN, you connect to a remote VPN server location and effectively mask your real IP address with that of the server. This means that you can make it appear as if your online activity is originating in an entirely different country and by doing so you can access streaming content that is not typically available in your region.

KeepSolid makes it easy to find the best VPN servers for accessing a range of streaming sites by highlighting recommended servers for BBC iPlayer, Disney+, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and more. This makes it a lot simpler than most other VPN providers, where you may have to manually try each server before you identify the best one to access your favorite streaming services.

Connecting to the recommended UK server successfully provided access to BBC iPlayer. Almost every VPN service enables access to YouTube, and KeepSolid did so without an issue. Netflix is significantly harder to access with a VPN, however, KeepSolid’s United States’ server easily overcame geo-blocks there too, and it did also gain access to Disney+. Unfortunately, Amazon Prime Video did not work, and the site detected the use of a VPN.

Is KeepSolid VPN Unlimited Good for Torrenting?

KeepSolid VPN states that it supports torrenting and P2P sharing, however, the website does appear to advise against using the service for this purpose. It also suggests that the provider has previously had to cut or throttle user speeds due to P2P sharing activities.

This means that KeepSolid is likely not a good choice for P2P sharing and torrenting, especially when compared to other VPNs who promise to never throttle user connections. This also may suggest that the provider is monitoring user connections to identify activities such as torrenting, which is a cause for concern.

Also, P2P sharing is only supported on a limited number of KeepSolid servers, just 5 in total. They are well located for European and North American users (Canada, France, Luxembourg, Romania, and the United States.) However, customers located elsewhere may experience slow download speeds that are unsuitable for torrenting.

If you aren’t a fan of P2P sharing this will likely not pose an issue, but if it is your main priority, we would advise looking elsewhere.

Is KeepSolid VPN Unlimited Compatible with All of My Devices?

KeepSolid VPN Unlimited provides a range of products for devices including Windows, Android, iOS, and macOS. The VPN Unlimited client set up experience is quick and simple and follows the same process as most other VPN services. Select your subscription plan depending on whether you want to opt for KeepSolid’s standard option, lifetime subscription, or KeepSolid VPN Lite. Then enter your email address and payment details to create an account.

You will then receive a download link, proceed to download and install the client on your devices. The provider’s dedicated apps are easy to use and install, however, it is a much more difficult experience to manually set up Open VPN with KeepSolid. There is no single archive for Open VPN configuration files, rather users must download them individually.

The Windows app offers an excellent, although simple, user experience while protecting your online privacy and personal data. It features a world map indicating various VPN servers across the world. The server list tool is organized alphabetically and a Workload icon helps you to choose the best available option to protect your online privacy and achieve the highest connection speed. There is a specialist server list for streaming tv shows and torrenting, as well as a Favorites list for your most commonly used servers.

Whether you download the VPN on your iPhone or Windows phone, KeepSolid’s Android and iOS app versions are similar. A world map enables you to zoom, pan, and choose from a variety of servers. There is also a simple list of servers that also displays ping and load times to ensure the highest connection speed. However, neither Android nor iOS app feature a kill-switch, leaving your web traffic somewhat exposed if your VPN connection failed for any reason, which is disappointing.

KeepSolid also offers proxy browser extensions for Chrome, Edge, and Opera. This means that they only protect your browser traffic, which may not be ideal for privacy and security, but it is likely sufficient to enable access to geo-restricted websites and streaming sites such as Netflix. The browser interface is simple to use too.
