Spider VPN may not be a bad choice if you are looking for a cheap VPN to access geo-restricted streaming services. However, there is much room for improvement when it comes to the server network, dedicated apps, customer support team, and privacy features.

The service appears to provide access to popular social media services and streaming sites like Netflix, and BBC iPlayer, which is impressive considering that even some of the best VPNs struggle to overcome geo-restrictions on such sites. It does also come at a relatively affordable monthly price and offers decent performance.

However, there is a minimal server network, a lack of advanced features, and unreliable customer support. These problems mean that Spider VPN cannot compete with some of the best VPNs on the market.

Spider VPN Security

A VPN or Virtual Private Network works by re-routing your web connection through an encrypted tunnel of servers allowing you to access the web privately. Nowadays, almost everything we do online is monitored or tracked- by our ISPs (Internet Service Providers), the government, the websites we visit, malicious advertisers, and cybercriminals.

Therefore, it makes sense to want to protect your identity and anonymity. A VPN is one of the best solutions if you are concerned about your privacy and anonymity online. It will encrypt your web traffic and mask your real IP address with that of the VPN server that you are connected to so that no one can link your activities back to you or your device.

The best VPNs come with military-grade encryption, support for secure protocols, a reliable integrated kill-switch to protect your data if the VPN connection fails for any reason, and an independently audited no-logs policy. So, we have analyzed the privacy and security features on offer as part of this Spider VPN review.

Unfortunately, the Spider VPN website offers little information about the bit-encryption methods or protocols it uses, which is concerning. The VPN's privacy policy is also not as transparent as we would like to see.

Although the VPN claims to be committed to protecting customer privacy, it does log some personal data. Fortunately, the VPN does not collect user activity logs, browsing history, data traffic destinations, search content, DNS queries, connection logs, IP addresses, connection timestamps, or session duration. However, it does admit to collecting some data, which it claims is necessary for the successful running of its service.

Spider admits to logging four types of user information. Firstly, the information you entered when creating your account, including your name, payment details, and email address, is logged. The company also stores 'minimal' information about app usage to maintain excellent service. However, it claims that this does not include DNS queries or IP addresses.

The app also stores anonymous connection diagnostics and crash reports; however, users can choose to disable this feature on the settings page. Information about the apps and versions you use, successful connections on a particular day (excluding your IP address), your country and ISP, as well as the total bandwidth consumed are also stored.

So, if you are looking for a no-logs provider that will provide complete online anonymity, we would suggest looking elsewhere. VPNs like ExpressVPN and NordVPN offer strict, independently audited no-logging policies, ensuring no personal account or activity data will ever be stored.

Spider VPN Features

Spider VPN is a decent option if you require a simple, affordable VPN app for accessing your favorite geo-restricted streaming sites and social media services. The VPN claims to allow users to browse, stream, and play games freely. The VPN does appear to offer access to a decent range of streaming services, including Netflix and BBC iPlayer. This is impressive, especially considering that many VPNs struggle to overcome geo-restrictions and firewalls on such streaming sites.

The VPN can be purchased as a VPN product alone or as a pre-configured router. A VPN router allows users to protect all the devices on their Wi-Fi network instantly and simultaneously. As with most other VPNs, Spider VPN is expensive if you opt for the monthly rolling contract, at $8.97 a month. However, if you commit for longer, the monthly price drops significantly.

On the annual plan, the VPN comes in at $3.97 a month, $2.97 a month on the 2-year plan, or $2.67 a month on the 3-year plan. A 30-day money-back guarantee protects all plans. A subscription with Spider VPN comes with unlimited connection speeds, unrestricted data bandwidth, 24/7 customer service support, and Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android apps.

Users can also choose to purchase the VPN in combination with the Spider VPN Lite Router. On the 6-month plan, the Spider router will cost you $15.37 a month, $8.42 a month as part of the annual plan, and $5.07 on the 2-year plan. The most cost-effective option is the 3-year plan which comes in at just $3.98 a month. A Lite Router and Spider VPN subscription comes with a built-in VPN, Lite VPN Router, 4 x 100Mbps Ethernet ports, and open-source secure firmware.

There is also the option to upgrade to the Spider VPN Pro Router, which comes with built-in VPN protection, a Pro Router, 4 x 1Gbps Ethernet ports, and open-source Secure Firmware. This plan will cost you $21.71 a month on the 6-month plan, $11.46 a month if you sign up for one year, $6.49 on the 2-year plan, and $4.84 on the 3-year option.

The VPN accepts a decent range of payment options, including debit cards, credit cards, PayPal, and even anonymous payments with cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin. Unfortunately, the company's site is extremely confusing, making it difficult for users to determine exactly what they are paying for.

There is 24/7 customer support in case you need assistance while setting up or using SpiderVPN. However, the customer support service is largely unreliable and largely disappointing compared to the best VPNs on the market.

Does SpiderVPN Have a No-Logs Policy?

Yes! The VPN’s privacy policy states that the company will never monitor, store, or share your online activity data, including data traffic destinations, browsing history, DNS queries, online connection logs, IP location, connection timestamps, or session duration.

The privacy page also states that the provider does not have access to personal information about its users. It also states that its site and services are designed not to store such data. However, the provider stores some information about its users’ activity, including connection dates (not times), the location of the server you connected to, your ISP, origin country, and the total bandwidth used.

Does SpiderVPN Offer a Money-Back Guarantee?

Yes, all SpiderVPN subscriptions come with an industry-standard 30-day refund guarantee. This means that you can download the Spider apps and test them fully before making a decision.

Does SpiderVPN Offer Customer Support?

If you run into difficulties when setting up or using Spider’s services, there are a few options, including a FAQ section and a Help Center on the website. You can also choose to directly contact the customer support team via email, social media, or by submitting a request ticket. Unfortunately, the customer support is not as comprehensive as that offered by some more premium VPNs.

What is a VPN Router?

Spider VPN’s software can be purchased as a VPN alone or as part of an integrated VPN router. A VPN router will allow you to automatically protect every device that you connect to your Wi-Fi network. A preconfigured router will save you time as it will not be necessary to download the VPN on all of your devices individually.

A VPN router will give you the benefits of a VPN on any device connected to your Wi-Fi network, even those that do not typically support a VPN connection, such as smart TVs and gaming consoles. We would recommend that you use a VPN whenever you access the web. With a pre-configured router VPN, you don’t have to worry about forgetting to connect, as all of your devices will automatically be secured as long as they are connected to the internet.

Spider VPN Alternatives

This Spider VPN review has made it clear that the company does not offer the most premium service on the market. Performance and connection speeds are disappointing, its clients are weak, and the customer support service is less than reliable.

If you wish to avoid these problems, there is a range of better alternatives on the market. The best one is arguably ExpressVPN which delivers a host of advanced privacy features, well-designed and easy-to-use apps for all devices, great streaming performance, and reliable customer service.

NordVPN is another really great VPN provider that comes with support for all major operating systems, military-grade AES-256 bit encryption, an extensive network of servers with super-fast connection speeds, secure protection for your online activities, as well as reliable access to geo-restricted content from any country around the world.

If you are looking for an affordable VPN for streaming your favorite geo-restricted content, CyberGhost could be the best option, with an extensive network of server locations, easy-to-use apps, fast connection speeds, and excellent performance, as well as an industry-leading money-back guarantee.
