VeePN Security

80%

VeePN has excellent security features to ensure that user data is always protected. There is strong encryption to hide your internet activity from prying eyes like your Internet Service Provider (ISP), government agencies, and online trackers.

Not only does VeePN offer AES-256 bit encryption, but it ensures that users' connections are always secured with strong tunneling protocols. Users can choose from VPN protocols such as OpenVPN TCP, OpenVPN UDP, IKEv2, WireGaurd, and Shadowsocks.

Not only does VeePN hide your browsing data from third parties, protecting you from tracking and targeted advertisements, but it also comes with DNS leak protection. VeePN does this by sending all DNS requests via its encrypted VPN tunnel, which means information about the websites you visit and your actual IP address is less likely to be exposed. We ran a DNS leak test and IP leak test and were pleased that no IP or DNS leaks occurred.

VeePN offers an internet kill switch that is also available to ensure that none of your data content is exposed if the server connection drops. Users can even choose to send their traffic through two VPN servers thanks to the Double VPN feature. This means your browsing data is protected by an extra layer of encryption, and your real IP address is hidden twice.

The VPN provider claims it doesn't collect logs and strives to protect its users' personal private data. The privacy policy on the VeePN website states that it doesn't collect the following data:

  • IP addresses
  • Browsing history
  • Session data (websites visited)
  • Used bandwidth
  • Connection timestamp
  • Traffic destination

However, VeePN does collect some personal data such as names, email addresses, and payment details. As well as this VeePN monitors and stores some session information such as servers connected to (for calculating servers' load values), session duration time, and how much data is transferred during each session. Moreover, if you contact customer support, any data shared in the live chat or emails will be stored.

Finally, VeePN has a malware blocker called NetGuard. This blocks access to malicious websites and stops tracking and unwanted ads from popping up on your device.

VeePN Features

75%

The VeePN features that come with each subscription plan are first-rate. There are plenty of excellent tools that help users have a more enjoyable VPN experience.

Firstly, VeePN operates a decent-sized server network with many locations around the world. VeePN's servers are spread across 50 locations in 42 countries, with multiple servers in Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The total number of servers is over 2,500, which is pretty large.

VeePN claims on its website that its VPN servers are up 99% of the time, meaning users can choose from all of the network's servers all of the time. As well as this, VeePN offers users the option to use a dedicated server. By using a personal server, they can get a dedicated IP address that is unique to them and them only.

Server speeds are excellent with VeePN, and users can switch between different servers many times during a VPN session. The VeePN speed also bodes well for streaming and torrenting. Fortunately, VeePN unblocks Netflix, BBC iPlayer, and many other streaming services.

Each subscription comes with 10 simultaneous connections; this device limit is more than enough for the average internet user. VeePN supports Windows, iOS, Mac, Android, Linux, and Smart TVs. It also supports routers, meaning users can connect the VPN to their home router and bypass the 10 device connection cap. There are even Chrome and Firefox browser extensions.

The VeePN apps are extremely easy to use and allow users to adjust settings such as the security protocols. Moreover, you can enable cool features such as getting the VPN to automatically connect whenever you switch on your device.

Finally, if you suffer from any issues when using VeePN, you can easily get in touch with the customer support team. There is live chat support that pops up automatically when you visit the VeePN website, a blog, and a support center full of helpful information. If none of these options are suitable, users can also get in contact with the team via email or by using the support ticket form.

How Much Does VeePN Cost?

VeePN has several subscription plans on offer for users to suit their varying budgets and needs:

VeePN accepts various payment methods, including credit cards such as American Express, Visa, and Mastercard. You can also pay with PayPal, AliPay, PaymentWall, and cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.

Is VeePN Chrome Free?

You can download the VeePN Chrome add-on to your Chrome browser without paying anything. However, to enjoy all of the great security features and protection that comes with the browser extension, you’ll need to select a subscription plan and sign up; there is not a free VeePN Chrome extension.

It is worth mentioning that while VeePN does not have any free plans, all of its plans come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. The 30-day money-back guarantee gives users sufficient time to test the service and ensure that they like the features on offer.

Does VeePN Have a Double VPN?

Yes, VeePN has a Double VPN feature that all users can enjoy. This feature sends users’ data through two servers instead of one, offering double the amount of encrypted protection and ensuring that your real IP address is changed twice.

Sending your internet traffic through multiple locations makes it harder for third parties to decrypt it and find out any information about you. Your real location is hidden, which subsequently means your identity is too.

Are Your DNS Queries Private with VeePN?

Yes, VeePN offers advanced DNS leak protection since all DNS requests are encrypted. Your DNS queries can reveal a lot of information about internet users, such as their browsing footprint, which apps and websites they use most, and their IP addresses.

To verify VeePNs claims that the service is totally DNS leakproof, we ran a DNS leak test when connected to a UK server. We were pleased to see that there were no DNS or IP leaks.

How Big is the VeePN Server Network?

VeePN has a good-sized server network, consisting of 2,500 servers across 42 countries and 50 global locations. VeePN offers coverage in places such as Malaysia, Russia, South Korea, Turkey, the US, and the UK.

Unfortunately, VeePN doesn’t offer server locations in China, and VeePN appears to be unable to bypass The Great Firewall of China. However, it offers other great Asian locations, which will appeal to users who want to enjoy content in countries on the continent.

Is VeePN Safe?

When using a VPN, you want to ensure that it is a safe and secure service. VPNs are becoming more and more critical as cybercrime and online attacks are an ever more prominent threat to regular users.

As part of this VeePN review, we took an in-depth look at the security features on offer and whether or not VeePN is a legit and safe service.

Firstly, VeePN is a legitimate service that provides cybersecurity protection to users worldwide. It combines advanced encryption, excellent tunneling protocols, and various other features, including a kill switch to ensure your internet access is always protected.

Best of all, VeePN doesn’t store any connection logs to keep users’ identities and internet activities completely private. Although VeePN stores some identifiable information, this is only for account purposes and is not shared with third parties.

Of course, no VPN service is 100% effective, and there is always a minimal chance that the VPN service could be hacked or compromised. However, as a standalone product, VeePN is highly safe and goes above and beyond to protect user privacy.

Where is VeePN Based?

One of the best things about VeePN is that it is based in Panama. Panama operates excellent data retention laws, which means VeePN doesn’t need to store its users’ logs. Unlike rival VPN services, such as Private Internet Access, which operates in the US, VeePN can afford to give all its users advanced privacy.

Yes, VeePN is legal. Using a VPN is legal in most parts of the world, so using VeePN is not breaking any laws.

Of course, there are factors to remember when considering using a VPN. Firstly, make sure the country you’re in doesn’t impose any laws or restrictions regarding the use of VPN. For example, in China, only government-approved VPN services can be used.

It is also worth remembering that VPN services like VeePN should never be used to carry out illegal activities online under another IP address. Just because you’re using a VPN doesn’t negate the illegality of what you’re doing online.

Is VeePN Compatible with Many Devices?

VeePN supports multiple devices, including:

As well as working with all major operating systems, users can also configure the VPN software to their home routers. This enables users to protect all devices connected to their home network.

Does VeePN Work on Netflix?

One of the main reasons internet users download VPNs is to unblock streaming services in other parts of the world. VeePN can unblock Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and many other streaming platforms.

We are particularly impressed with the fact that VeePN can unblock BBC iPlayer. Given that the streaming service is notorious for detecting and blocking VPN IP addresses, it is excellent news that VeePN can get past iPlayer’s firewall.

Is it Safe to Torrent with VeePN?

VeePN allows torrenting on its servers, which is good news for file-sharing fans who want to keep their P2P networking activity private. A fast internet speed also ensures that users can enjoy quick downloads.

VeePN features a kill switch, which also guarantees that users enjoy total privacy when torrenting. If the VPN server connection goes down, their internet access won’t be exposed, revealing their torrenting activity. Moreover, by using VeePN to torrent, users can share files under a shared IP address and rest assured that their data is not logged by VeePN.

Does VeePN Have Reliable Customer Support?

Yes, VeePN has excellent customer service on offer. VeePN has a live chat feature on its website, an email address that customers can write to, a ticketed form system, and an extensive support section on the website.

Upon visiting the VeePN site, the live chat will pop up on the home page, meaning users visiting the website to ask a question can immediately do so. You have to enter identifiable information to use the chat, including your name, and this data is stored by VeePN.

Can VeePN Bypass Censorship?

VeePN is an excellent VPN service provider for bypassing internet censorship. Given that the VPN operates in 42 countries, this means users worldwide can surf the web under a foreign IP address to access content that may otherwise be unavailable in their country. This includes streaming service platforms, social networks, news websites, VoIP services, and more.

Unfortunately, as mentioned elsewhere in this VeePN review, the VPN is not the best at bypassing censorship in China since it doesn’t work well in the country. We recommend another VPN service like NordVPN if you want to bypass The Great Firewall of China.

How Fast is VeePN?

VeePN calls itself a fast VPN, so we ran a speed test to see whether or not this is a genuine claim. We started off connected to a US server and experienced a download speed of 36Mbps, which is fast. This is fast enough for activities such as streaming and torrenting.

We only experienced slightly slow speeds during the speed tests when we connected to an Australian server. The download speed dropped to 29Mbps, which is by no means exceedingly slow, but was quite a drop compared to the US speed. However, we put this down to physical distance from the server and other factors which could have affected the speed, such as server load, network issues, and background programs on our device.

How Do I Uninstall VeePN?

If you’re not happy with the service VeePN provides, you can easily uninstall the VeePN app from your devices. To uninstall the mobile apps, simply remove them from your phone as you would with any other mobile app. Similarly, you just need to follow the simple steps to uninstall the software from your system.

However, uninstalling the VPN app and client doesn’t mean your subscription automatically cancels. To end your subscription during the current subscription period, users need to email [email protected]. However, your VPN plan won’t come to an end until the end of the current period; so if you have signed up for a 5-year plan, you will still have an active subscription for the time left on your plan.

How Does VeePN Compare to Other VPN Services?

VeePN is an excellent rival VPN service to other products on the VPN market. Not only can users get the service from as little as just over $1 per month, but the VPN offers advanced security and privacy protection, an extensive server network, and can unblock popular streaming sites, including Netflix US. Although VeePN doesn’t have the same reputation as VPN titans like NordVPN, it is making a name for itself in the industry.

PrivacySharks’ Verdict: VeePN

Overall, VeePN is a great choice for internet users looking for more security on the web. VeePN encrypts users’ data with advanced encryption and super secure tunneling protocols. It also offers excellent additional features like a kill switch and the ability to automatically launch a VPN connection in the app. With 10 simultaneous connections per plan, users can effectively protect all of their operating systems too. Simply put, VeePN is a great service and one we recommend.
